I want to work for you
Hi! I'm Jendrik Schröder: a freelance director, photographer and videographer based in Berlin. Recently, I've finished my postgraduate studies in Philosophy and Arts – after having completed my B.A. in Communications at the University of the Arts Berlin and Photography courses at Ostkreuzschule. In parallel, I have been working as a freelancer in the audiovisual field for about 5 years for clients like Audi, Coca Cola or the Ministry of Foreign Affairs. Finally I have the full capacity to join a company in the industry full time. And the company I really want to work for is Iconoclast.
Why I'm interesting
My professional career focusses on photography and filmmaking. What separates me from most, however, is the diversity of my interests and experiences. I've designed album covers for indie artists and composed electronic music for short films. But I've also worked as a camera assistent at huge events in Kraftwerk or as a unit manager in the Studios at Filmuniversität Babelsberg. Agencies booked me as an editor before – and I've assisted directors as an AD. My undergraduate studies allowed me to develop a broad field of communication skills. These led me to work with a group of fellow students to strategically advice the Melt! Festival for half a year – and to win the price for the best communication project of the year at my university. Finally, studying philosophy and arts allowed me to really dive deep and learn about the range and depth of artistic expression.
My freelance work always forced me to work independently and self-reliantly. Working in a team, however, always pushes you to adjust and to learn something new every day. That's why I want to become a part of yours.
Why I'm interested
It is, of course, a bold undertaking to contact an agency like yours in times like this. But I'm a fan of bold undertakings – and I'm a fan of your agency. What draws me to Iconoclast in particular is your visionary aesthetic. All your projects display contemporary culture and push the boundaries between advertising, fashion and art. They are polished without losing the beautiful rawness that so often just gets polished away. Also you work with different mediums. And I strongly belief in the interdisciplinary approach to create innovation. That is why I've always implemented that kind of interdisciplinarity in my own career and life.
The directors and photographers in your agency form an incredible roster – which makes it hard to name my favorite ones. I would simply love to assist every single one of them. In any way I can.
